Hi! I’m Mayra Luz Colón, founder of Nutrition Dork and Healthy Rican - Latin Seasonings

As a proud Puerto Rican Latina, Certified Health Coach, and total foodie, I’m on a mission to help women over 40 manage autoimmune and peri-menopause symptoms—without giving up the vibrant, authentic flavors that make our culture so special.
 
Growing up in a home filled with the aromas of Puerto Rican and Latin Caribbean cooking, I was always searching for healthier ways to enjoy the dishes I love. But as a Latina navigating autoimmune challenges and chronic Lyme disease, I realized most recipes out there didn’t fit my needs—or truly celebrate our roots.
 
That’s why I created Nutrition Dork: a space where heritage meets health, and every recipe is crafted with cariño for our bodies and sabor for our souls. Whether you’re AIP, Paleo, Vegan, Whole30, Dairy-Free, or Gluten-Free, I want you to enjoy your favorite foods without sacrificing tradition.

Why the name “Nutrition Dork”?

Nutrition became my obsession (yep, I’m that dorky about it!). From a young age, I was captivated by home remedy books and magazines, always looking for natural ways to heal and nourish. As an adult managing autoimmune conditions, my curiosity evolved into a deep commitment to finding holistic methods to manage my symptoms with nutrition at the forefront of it all.

 

While studying at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to become a Certified Health Coach, I joked with a friend, “I’m such a Nutrition Dork!” And just like that, the name stuck, and the journey began.

 

 

Why share a variety of lifestyles (Paleo, Vegan, Etc.), instead of just one?

I share a variety of lifestyles—Paleo, Vegan, Whole30, Gluten-Free, and more—because, as a Health Coach, I believe in bio-individuality. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition. What works for one person might not work for another, and that’s perfectly fine. We each have unique needs and preferences, and my goal is to provide a range of options so that you can find what works best for you, your lifestyle and health goals.
